There’s a very good chance that former Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard will be fit for next weekend’s Serie A match between Lazio and Inter Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The Frenchman should be fit enough to be on the bench.

A return is now definitively on the horizon for former Bayern Munich defender Pavard.

The 2018 World Cup winner has been working individually on his fitness without a protective knee brace for more than a week now.

Pavard is still a little ways away from being able to return to full training.

But the feeling now is that that will not be far away.

The Frenchman’s progress in terms of building up fitness is right on schedule. Therefore, Pavard should be ready to train with the rest of his teammates within the next week or so.

Benjamin Pavard Fairly Likely To Be Fit For Lazio Vs Inter

The timeline for Pavard’s return is not exactly certain down to the day, however.

What is very certain is that the 27-year-old will play no part in this evening’s Serie A match against Udinese, or in the Champions League group stage clash with Real Sociedad during the week.

These matches, both inside the next five days, will be too soon for Pavard to return.

But there is a good chance of the Frenchman being able to make the squad for next Sunday’s Serie A match against Lazio.

That match away to last season’s Serie A runners-up is eight days away.

Given that Pavard should be able to return in a little over a week, that could be enough time for the Frenchman.

And it is looking more and more likely that he will be.

The 27-year-old has a very good chance of being called up, given his current recovery progress. This may mean a spot on the bench, rather than in the starting eleven.
