Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez feels that, at a physical level, he is at his best.

The Argentine spoke to InterTV after the Nerazzurri’s 4-0 Serie A win over Udinese, via FCInterNews.

Martinez has had some injury and fitness problems in the last couple years.

These have not caused the 26-year-old to miss matches, necessarily.

On the contrary, Martinez has virtually always been available for Inter and for Argentina. Last season, the striker made a whopping 57 appearances across all competitions.

But an ankle problem held Martinez back from playing at his best at times.

This went some way towards explaining why the Argentine struggled for consistency on the pitch at times, even if he was certainly Mr. Reliable in terms of being able to play.

Consistency in form hasn’t really been an issue for Martinez this season.

The 26-year-old has found the back of the net sixteen times following his goal against Udinese this evening.

And goals are far from the only thing Martinez provides to Inter. The captain is the player who leads from the front and sets the tone with his linkup play and defensive workrate.

Therefore, it seems clear that Martinez is not being held back by any injury problems at the moment.

Inter Captain Lautaro Martinez: In Top Condition Physically

“Physically I’m in top condition,” Martinez said after this evening’s match.

“I get link up well with all my teammates, and it’s important for me and for the whole team.”

“I didn’t want to leave without scoring a goal,” Martinez noted.

“The most important thing is certainly that Inter have to win.”

“We’re certainly working a lot on winning the ball back high up the pitch,” the Inter captain said.

“You can see that in a lot of the matches we’ve scored in, or at least created chances.”

“I’m very happy with that,” Martinez continued. “I’m proud of this result and this team.”

“We need to keep going on this path, that’s important.”

“We’ve been doing a great job in these three years with this coach”.
