Lautaro Martinez has won praise for his leadership role in Inter Milan’s 4-0 Serie A win over Udinese yesterday evening.

Italian news outlet L’Interista note that the 26-year-old got glowing reviews for his performance in the match in the player ratings across Italian media.

Martinez did get his goal in the end yesterday evening.

The Argentine did basically all the work to find the back of the net for the fourteenth time in Serie A this season. This saw him extend his lead in the division’s scoring charts.

But considering that Inter had already been 3-0 up by the time Martinez scored, it was not exactly the most important goal he’ll ever score for the Nerazzurri.

But that did not mean that the Argentine was not right at the heart of Inter’s performance.

Rather, the captain was the player who really led from the front and set the tone.

Lautaro Martinez Praised For Leadership Role In Inter Win Vs Udinese

For Martinez, the key aspect appeared was certainly his leadership on the pitch.

The Argentine put in a selfless shift in terms of his defensive effort.

This was key as Inter looked to press Udinese high up the pitch in order to win the ball back in dangerous areas.

And that proved to be how the Nerazzurri scored their second goal of the match.

It was none other than captain Martinez who won the ball back on the edge of the Udinese penalty area.

And the Argentine intelligently found Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.

The Turk moved the ball out to the left, and Federico Dimarco slotted it past Friulani keeper Silvestri.

Martinez was also typically useful in terms of his linkup play. There were several excellent passes that stitched together Inter’s counterattacks.

The goal was certainly important for Martinez personally. But the Argentine’s leadership and constant effort mattered more for the win all in all.
