Beppe Marotta feels that Lautaro Martinez has given a clear signal of his love for Inter Milan through his willingness to extend his contract.

The Nerazzurri CEO spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, ahead of the team’s Champions League match against Real Sociedad.

Martinez is a player whose future has been under the spotlight in recent weeks.

But not because there is uncertainty or speculation regarding the Argentine. Quite the contrary.

By all accounts, Martinez will likely soon sign an extension to his contract with Inter.

The 26-year-old’s current deal runs out at the end of June 2026. But he should soon put pen to paper on a new contract that will expire at the end of June 2028.

This is a clear sign that Martinez has a key place in Inter’s plans for the future.

The Argentine became Inter’s captain during the summer. He inherited the armband from Samir Handanovic.

And the player himself has not hidden his intentions.

Martinez has made clear that he expects to sign a new contract with Inter in the very near future.

Marotta: Lautaro Martinez Has Declared His Love For Inter

Of Martinez’s clear signal of his intentions, Marotta said that “It’s a declaration of love for Inter.”

“That puts us in a very positive mood regarding negotiations,” the Inter executive continued.

“We’ll move forward calmly. We know that we’re dealing with top professionals.”

“We’ll see whether we wrap up the talks before the end of the calendar year,” Marotta continued. “But there are no problems.”

Marotta also spoke about the way that striker Marcus Thuram has been fitting in.

“Thuram was a great intuition by [Nerazzurri Sporting Director Piero] Ausilio,” he continued. “We supported him, and we’re all very happy with it.”

“He has great potential,” Marotta said of Thuram.

“And he’ll go on to play an even more important role than he already has.”
