Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta feels that the team must not rest on their laurels from the past few months.

The executive spoke at the Nerazzurri’s annual club Christmas party, via FCInterNews. He emphasized always keeping the bar high.

Inter have certainly enjoyed a positive start to the season.

The Nerazzurri have earned their spot at the top of the Serie A table with both the strongest attack and defense in the division.

And in the Champions League, Inter have booked their place in the round of sixteen for the third season in a row.

There is a bit of disappointment at having missed out on top spot in their Champions League group.

But the Nerazzurri can still go forward with plenty of confidence no matter who they draw in the next round.

Inter reached last season’s Champions League final. Along the way they showed that they can go toe-to-toe with anyone in Europe.

Meanwhile, Inter kick off their Coppa Italia campaign in just under a week.

That is a competition that the Nerazzurri have won in each of the last two seasons.

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta: No Complacency, Keep The Bar High

The season so far his been positive for Inter, undoubtedly.

But from here things will only get more difficult for the Nerazzurri.

There will be a gruelling second half of the Serie A season to come. Holding onto top spot in the table will prove no mean feat, not least with a rival like Juventus breathing down Inter’s neck.

And whilst reaching the Champions League knockouts again is already a positive thing, Inter will know all too well that that is where the competition really starts to heat up.

Marotta made clear that “We have to keep the bar high.”

“Let’s not rest on our laurels from the first few months of the season,” the CEO added.
