Inter Milan are thinking about pushing their move for Porto striker Mehdi Taremi forward to January as Alexis Sanchez and Marko Arnautovic struggle.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

By now, Inter’s interest in signing Taremi is a very badly-kept secret.

The Nerazzurri had considered a move for the Iranian international during the summer transfer window.

But in the end, it was Marko Arnautovic who arrived as a striker instead. The Austrian proved to be a lower-cost piece of business in the position than Taremi.

But far from cooling their interest in Taremi after signing Arnautovic, Inter have only pushed it back,

The Nerazzurri have continued their contacts with Taremi’s representives.

The 31-year-old remains a priority target for Inter in attack.

But the central question regarding Inter’s pursuit of Taremi will concern the timing of a prospective move.

Inter Could Move For Taremi In January As Alexis & Arnautovic Not Cutting It

Naturally, Inter are paying close attention to Taremi’s situation next summer. The Iranian international is out of contract with Porto at the end of next June.

So there is no question that Inter will try to move for the striker then.

The Nerazzurri are laying the groundwork in contact with the 31-year-old’s representatives.

But Inter may feel that they must push the move for Taremi forward to next month.

The reason for this is simple – the performances of two of the forwards currently in the squad have not been convincing at the start of the season.

Mediocre displays by Arnautovic and Alexis Sanchez against Real Sociedad confirmed the impression.

Inter do not necessarily have solid depth behind starting strikers Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

Therefore, the Gazzetta report, the Nerazzurri may decide they have to intervene in the January window.

And if so, Taremi is certainly the player who they would go for.
