Inter Milan President Steven Zhang has made clear that the priority for this season is the Serie A title above all else.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The Gazzetta report the President’s message at the club’s annual Christmas party.

Zhang was not present at Inter’s annual Christmas party in person. The Nerazzurri President is still in China at the moment.

But the President did attend the festivities virtually.

And he gave a message to the players and staff.

According to the Gazzetta, Zhang has confirmed that Inter are going all-in on the Serie A title this season.

That is certainly not to say that the team consider other competitions unimportant.

Inter are in the round of sixteen of the Champions League for the third season in a row. And then the team will soon be in action in the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana.

But the Serie A title is something Inter have not yet won under Simone Inzaghi.

There is a bit of a feeling that the Nerazzurri have stalled at nineteen, one short of the twenty total titles won that would earn the club a second star on their shirts.

Inter President Steven Zhang Emphasizes Serie A As Priority

As the Gazzetta notes, there are clear signs of how Inter are going all in on Serie A.

The clearest concerns the way in which Inter coach Simone Inzaghi rotates his team.

There has been some squad rotation in the league. Particularly in matches against weaker teams on paper like Empoli or Salernitana.

But more often than not, the coach has selected more or less his strongest possible starting eleven in league matches, whether against top rivals or teams lower down in the table.

That was certainly the case against Udinese this past weekend.

By contrast, in the Champions League, Inzaghi has shown greater willingness to rotate.

Particularly in attack, the coach has given a chance to the backup options.

But in Serie A, Inzaghi seems much more reluctant to leave Lautaro Martinez or Marcus Thuram out.
