Man City, Arsenal, and Real Madrid are among the possible opponents Inter Milan could face in the Champions League round of sixteen.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter have reached the Champions League knockout rounds for the third season in a row. But as with the last two times, they have not done so top of their group.

Rather, the Nerazzurri have to settle for finishing runners-up after their draw with Real Sociedad on Tuesday.

That match meant that Inter and La Real are level on points in their group.

But the La Liga team are top of the group by virtue of superior goal difference.

This means that Inter will not have the chance of facing (on paper) easier opponents in the next round such as Copenhagen, PSV, Porto, or RB Leipzig.

And, just as importantly, it means that there is no chance of the Nerazzurri avoiding one of Europe’s elite.

Man City, Arsenal & Real Madrid Among Possible Round Of Sixteen Opponents For Inter

This season, the group of teams that finished top of their groups looks even stronger than usual. At least on paper.

Inter of course cannot face La Real, having shared a group with them.

That means that there are seven potential opponents for the Nerazzurri in the next round.

Perhaps on paper Borussia Dortmund or Atletico Madrid would be the easiest draws that Inter could get.

But both would certainly be extremely formidable opponents for the next round.

And with the other five teams Inter could fave, it certainly doesn’t get any easier.

There is Premier League duo City and Arsenal. The former beat Inter in the final of last season’s edition of the competition.

Then, La Liga rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona both topped their respectively groups.

And lastly, Inter could face German champions Bayern Munich. The Bavarians beat Inter home and away in the group stage of last season’s edition of the competition.
