Inter Milan have reportedly identified Tiago Djalo, Tajon Buchanan and Nahitan Nandez as three candidates to replace Juan Cuadrado in January.

The Colombian joined the Nerazzurri in the summer after ending an eight-year spell at Juventus.

But sadly for the 35-year-old, an Achilles tendon issue has been haunting him since September.

Following a recent re-inflammation, it is becoming increasingly evident that the player’s condition requires surgical intervention.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, Cuadrado would have to sit out for around three months after undergoing surgery.

Therefore, the pink newspaper claims that Inter would like to postpone the operation as they don’t want to leave themselves short of options.

The report believes the management could be looking to sign a new player next month. Hence, the wingback could go under the knife in mid-January.

The source names three profiles who have emerged as possible candidates for the role.

The first name on the list is Tiago Djalo. Inter have been looking to poach for several months.

However, the Nerazzurri’s plan is to sign the 23-year-old at the end of the season once his contract with Lille expires. So we shall see if the Italians would be willing to advance their attempts.

The centre-back wouldn’t be a direct replacement for Cuadrado, but will allow Matteo Darmian to return to his original position as a wingback.

The second option on the list is Tajon Buchanan. The 24-year-old is a Canadian international who has been on Beppe Marotta’s shortlist for quite some time.

The winger has been plying his trade at Club Brugges since January. His contract with the Belgian club runs until 2025.

Finally, Cagliari’s Nahitan Nandez remains a perennial transfer target for Inter. The 27-year-old is a versatile Uruguayan international whose contract with Cagliari will expire at the end of the season.
