The recent changes to the Italian Super Cup schedule have infuriated Inter Milan among other participants in the tournament.

Next month, Saudi Arabia will host the first-ever expanded version of the Supercoppa Italiana. Instead of a single match played between the league champions and the Coppa Italia winners, the new format will also include the two runners-up in a four-team tournament.

The Nerazzurri won the two most recent editions and will once again participate as Coppa Italia winners. They will take on Lazio in the semi-final while Italian champions Napoli meet Fiorentina in the other clash.

However, the organizers have now changed the schedule for the second time, much to the dismay of Inter.

The competition will now take place between the 18th and 22nd of January. This change will affect the Serie A schedule for the four participants, delaying their matches to February. In Inter’s case, they were set to take on Atalanta on January 21st.

So according to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, Inter has been the most livid club following the recent change.

The report claims that the organizers decided to alter the schedule to accommodate the events of the Riyadh Season. This will feature a friendly match between Leo Messi’s Inter Miami and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.

Inter Milan Are Angry With The Recent Changes In The Italian Super Cup Schedule

As the source tells it, the four clubs all have European commitments in February that are far more important than the Italian Super Cup from both sporting and economic perspectives.

The Turin-based newspaper reveals that the winner of the Super Cup will only pocket 7 million euros. This figure is incomparable to the prize money provided by the Champions League.

Therefore, Tuttosport believes that Serie A clubs are now considering rescinding the contract with KSA. The Arabic nation has an agreement to host four editions of the Super Cup.
