There is still significant distance between Inter Milan and wingback Denzel Dumfries in contract extension talks.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews. The outlet reports that the 27-year-old’s representatives should be in Italy to discuss a prospective new deal soon.

Dumfries is certainly a player whose contract situation Inter will want to sort out in due time.

At the moment, the former PSV wingback’s deal runs out at the end of June 2025.

Therefore, while it is not exactly the moment of truth for Dumfries’s contract, the clock is ticking.

Inter’s priority will be to make sure that the Dutchman doesn’t go into the final season of his deal without putting pen to paper on an extension.

The Nerazzurri already lost Milan Skriniar on a high-profile free transfer. They will not want to risk the same thing happening with Dumfries.

So the club have made talks with the 27-year-old and his representatives one of their priorities.

Significant Distance Remains In Inter – Dumfries Contract Extension Talks

At the moment, however, there is a lot of work to do in talks with Dumfries and his representatives.

According to FCIN, Inter’s aim is to offer Dumfries a new contract worth €4 million net per season.

That is around what Federico Dimarco will earn once he signs a new deal.

But FCIN report that Dumfries and his representatives are seeking around €1 million net per season more than that. That would take the Dutchman in line with Alessandro Bastoni’s wages.

In any event, new talks should occur in the relatively near future.

Dumfries is represented by the agency Westerman.

And Westerman representatives will be in Italy soon.

The agency represents Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, and will meet with the Bianconeri regarding the American.

And they will also speak with AC Milan regarding the Rossoneri’s interest in another of their clients, Barcelona and France defender Clement Lenglet.

During this excursion to Italy, Westerman should also meet with Inter for contract extension talks regarding Dumfries.
