Club Brugge head coach Ronny Deila admitted a lack of control over the future of Inter Milan transfer target Tajon Buchanan.

The 24-year-old has been on the Nerazzurri’s shortlist for quite some time now. The Serie A giants rekindled their interest in the player due to Juan Cuadrado’s recurring injury problems.

The Colombian has now undergone surgery to repair an Achilles tendon issue. This leaves Simone Inzaghi short of options on the right flank for several months.

Therefore, the Beneamata are now searching the market for a new right wingback who can serve as an understudy for Denzel Dumfries.

In recent weeks, Buchanan has emerged as the ultimate favorite for the role. Moreover, some suggested that the Canadian’s lack of playing time in recent weeks could be a sign of an imminent exit.

For his part, Brugge manager Deila admits that the situation is out of his hands.

Nevertheless, the Norwegian tactician suggests that his squad possesses enough talent and personnel on the right side to cope with Buchanan’s possible exit.

“I don’t know what is happening around Tajon, this is something I can’t control,” said Deila in his press conference via FcInterNews.

“However, Buchanan is still here and this is the most important thing at the moment. He is one of us.

“Max De Cuyper has done well on the right wing in his stead. His intelligence and his technique allow him to play in almost all positions. This makes him a special player.

“There’s a lot of competition on the right, Odoi is also doing well and after the break, we hope to have Sabbe back.”

Buchanan is a Canadian international who has been plying his trade at the Belgian since January 2022. His contract is valid until the summer of 2025.
