Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski has reportedly rebuffed his club’s offers for contract renewal while an agreement with Inter Milan edges ever closer.

The Polish star has been plying his trade at the Stadio Maradona since making the move from Udinese in 2016.

However, his contract with the Partenopei will expire at the end of the campaign. The Italian giants are apparently struggling in their attempts to renew the deal.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, Zielinski has rejected Napoli’s most recent offer.

The Southern Italian club raised the offer to a three-year contract worth 4.5 million euros per season as net wages.

But despite the improved figures, the 29-year-old rebuffed the attempt.

As the Pink newspaper explains, agent commissions are playing a substantial role in the negotiations.

So while Inter Milan are offering the player a lower salary, they were able to entice his agent with a bigger commission than Napoli’s.

Therefore, the source believes that an agreement between the Nerazzurri and the Pole is looming closer.

Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta is an expert at picking up free agents, and he could well make Zielinski his latest coup.

Nevertheless, the report warns the Beneamata of competition from Juventus.

Former Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli made the switch to Turin in the summer. The new Juventus Football director would cherish the opportunity of reuniting with his old pupil at the Allianz Stadium.

Nevertheless, GdS insists that Inter remain in the lead as they aren’t far away from striking a four-year deal with the Poland international.

This season, Zielinski has contributed with three goals and as many assists across all competitions for Napoli.
