Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella doesn’t want the Nerazzurri to relent in the momentum of their winning cycle.

The 26-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, following yesterday evening’s 2-0 Serie A win over Lecce.

Inter kept their title charge going at pace with yesterday’s victory over Lecce.

It was another clean sheet for the Nerazzurri. And two more goals, courtesy of defender Yann Bisseck for his first ever Inter goal, and captain-on-the-night Barella for his second of the season.

Inter responded to Juventus’s win against Frosinone earlier in the day.

The gap at the top of the table remains four points in favour of the Nerazzurri.

And whilst Inter have crashed out of the Coppa Italia early, matches in the Supercoppa Italiana and the Champions League round of sixteen await the team in the new year.

The sense is that the past few years that have brought a Serie A title, multiple domestic cup trophies, and finals in the Europa League and the Champions League are not winding down any time soon.

Inter Midfielder Nicolo Barella Stresses Keeping Foot On The Gas

“I came to this club a few years ago,” Barella said. “And I was lucky enough that that was when we started a winning cycle.”

“Now let’s say I’m used to it,” the Italian international said with a laugh.

“And we want to keep it going.”

Barella also spoke about his own resurgent form in recent weeks.

“There was a period where I allowed myself to be influenced by some things that I probably should have ignored,” the former Cagliari midfielder admitted.

“Then when that starts to show itself on the pitch, it can be a problem.”

“I cleared my head with the help of my teammates at Inter as well as the national team,” Barella said.

“And now I’ve found my form again.”

And Barella also spoke about the team embrace around striker Marko Arnautovic after the Austrian had assisted him for Inter’s second goal with a brilliant improvised backheel.

“Not scoring affects everyone,” the 26-year-old said. “Even the midfielders. Not least the strikers.”

“But Marko was ready when we needed him,” he went on.

“So we can only congratulate him for the assist he made for me, and for everything he did in the match.”
