Inter Milan are pressing ahead in their pursuit of Club Brugge and Canada winger Tajon Buchanan.

Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, report that the Nerazzurri want to get a deal done for the 24-year-old by mid-January at the latest.

Inter are now going full speed ahead in their pursuit of Buchanan.

The 24-year-old is the player who the Nerazzurri have decided on as their priority target on the left flank.

Buchanan has been on Inter’s radar in the past. They club have considered the versatile Canadian international has having an ideal profile to adapt to the right-wingback role in their 3-5-2 shape.

But injury issues in Inter’s squad have caused the club to push their pursuit of Buchanan forward.

The fact that Juan Cuadrado will be out for a few months whilst he undergoes surgery means that Inter have just Denzel Dumfries and Matteo Darmian fit as right-wingback options at the moment.

The former has had fitness issues of his own this season. Dumfries is currently out with a muscle injury.

And Darmian is also important depth in the centre-back position.

Therefore, Inter will make a signing in January for the right flank.

Inter Aiming To Sign Tajon Buchanan By Mid-January

Rather than going for a stopgap solution, the Nerazzurri will simply push forward their move for Buchanan.

Given that the Canadian’s contract with Brugge runs out at the end of June 2025, and he has made clear that he will not sign an extension, the Belgians want to cash in whilst they have the chance.

And next month appears to be the right chance for them to do so.

Inter want to sign Buchanan on an initial paid loan deal. This would contain a purchase obligation.

Brugge are open to this sort of transfer.

Inter are hoping to get a deal done for around €7-8 million in total. Brugge want at least €12 million.

The Corriere report that the two clubs could meet somewhere in the middle.

And the newspaper report that Inter would have no intention of waiting until the end of January to complete a deal for Buchanan.

On the contrary, the Nerazzurri want Buchanan early on in the transfer window.

Inter’s hope is to have Buchanan in the squad for their first match of 2024, against Hellas Verona.

At the latest, the Nerazzurri would want to sign the Canadian for their Serie A match away to Monza on January 13.
