Yann Bisseck has fully emerged as a starting-quality defender for Inter Milan after his standout performance against Lecce.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlight the 23-year-old’s display in the 2-0 Serie A victory.
Bisseck did not exactly slot straight into the Inter lineup following his summer arrival from Danish club Aarhus.
The German did make his Nerazzurri debut against Monza in the first Serie A match of the season. He came off the bench for a brief cameo appearance.
But following that, appearances were few and far between for Bisseck in the first few months of the season.
This was not too surprising. Bisseck is still young and finding his feet in a much stronger league than the one that he came from.
But in recent weeks, the 23-year-old has shown that he has completed his adjustment period.
Yann Bisseck Another Starting-Quality Option For Inter
Bisseck made his first ever start for Inter against Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League.
Then the 23-year-old followed it up with another start against Benfica.
In both of these matches, the German’s quality was evident, at least in spells. But at the same time, there was perhaps a lack of composure in moments.
But this did not stop Inter coach Simone Inzaghi from turning to Bisseck during what’s turned out to be an injury crisis, with Benjamin Pavard, Denzel Dumfries, and Stefan de Vrij all missing.
Bisseck has started in matches against the likes of Udinese, Lazio, and Bologna.
And yesterday, the German kept his place against Lecce. Even with Pavard and de Vrij both back fit and available, Inzaghi put his trust in Bisseck.
And the 23-year-old rewarded his coach’s faith.
Bisseck looked like a confident, front-foot defender – perfectly suited to the right-sided role in Inzaghi’s back three.
The German was an important influence in possession just as much as he was defensively.
And Bisseck capped off his strongest overall display yet in an Inter shirt with his first ever goal for the club.
It is now at the stage where it would be difficult to say that Bisseck is not a starting-quality option to bolster Inter’s squad going forward.
