Goalkeeper Yann Sommer has won praise for keeping yet another clean sheet in Inter Milan’s Serie A win over Lecce yesterday evening.

L’Interista highlight the positive scores that the Swiss international received for another solid performance to make it twelve matches in Serie A without conceding a goal so far this season.

Sommer has already kept a total of twelve clean sheets in just seventeen matches for Inter.

It is only Christmas but the former Bayern Munich keeper is well into the double digits for clean sheets.

The 35-year-old has had to pick the ball out of his own net at least once in five league matches in total.

Yann Sommer Praised For Yet Another Clean Sheet In Inter Win Vs Lecce

In those twelve clean sheets, a lot of credit obviously goes to the team in front of Sommer.

From the defenders to the midfielders, the wide players, the strikers, and the organization of coach Simone Inzaghi, the Nerazzurri have offered Sommer plenty of protection.

And that was certainly the case against Lecce yesterday.

The Puglian team did get in behind Inter on a few occasions to fashion chances.

But the Nerazzurri largely held the visiting side at arm’s length.

But as has been the case all throughout the current campaign, when Inter have needed Sommer to intervene, the Swiss has been alert and ready.

Sommer has not lost focus as he has largely had a watching brief in many matches. Yesterday’s match was another such occasion in that vein.

Sommer had to make a save on Lecce midfielder Joan Gonzalez early on.

And this was certainly a key moment. Had the 35-year-old not kept Gonzalez’s shot out, there would have been a risk of Lecce growing in confidence, whilst Inter would have then had to chase the game.

Meanwhile, Sommer also made a second half save on a Hamza Rafia effort.
