Benjamin Pavard has a good chance of returning to the Inter Milan starting eleven in Friday’s Serie A match away to Genoa.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it.

27-year-old French international Pavard has been back fit for Inter for a couple weeks now.

The former Bayern Munich defender had missed more than a month recovering from a knee injury.

Pavard had picked up the injury during a Serie A match against Atalanta at the start of November.

But the Frenchman completed his recovery. He has been back in Inter’s matchday squad for the past few matches.

Pavard did not come straight back into the starting eleven.

Partly this was due to the defender’s fitness. Naturally, it was never likely that Pavard would be rushed straight back into the lineup after more than a month on the sidelines.

Therefore, Pavard did not play either from the start or from the bench against Lazio earlier this month.

Yann Bisseck started that match against the Biancocelesti.

But fitness is not necessarily the only reason Pavard hasn’t been starting.

Benjamin Pavard To Start For Inter Vs Genoa

Bisseck’s form has also made it hard for Inter coach Simone Inzaghi to drop the German from the team.

The Nerazzurri coach may have only turned to Bisseck due to the fact that Pavard as well as Stefan de Vrij and Denzel Dumfries have been missing with injury.

But the young defender has put in a string of very good displays.

This means that there would seem to be real competition for the starting place on the right of Inter’s back three.

But according to the Gazzetta, Pavard will reclaim his spot on Friday.

The Frenchman will start on the right side of the back three alongside Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni.

This will mean that Bisseck drops to the bench against Genoa.
