Midfielder Davide Frattesi did not train today with the rest of the Inter Milan squad due to a fever ahead of Friday’s match against Genoa.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews.

Inter are just a couple days away from their final match of the calendar year 2023.

The Nerazzurri will travel to Liguria to face newly-promoted team Genoa.

And Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is mulling over what team he will put out for the match.

The Nerazzurri have a bit of a breather in terms of the fixture list compared to the most dense periods.

Inter will have five days to rest and train between their last Serie A match, at home to Lecce on the 23rd, and Friday’s match against Genoa.

And then, there will be more than a week before Inter are back in action again. They kick off 2024 with a match against Hellas Verona at the San Siro.

That period off after the Lecce match also coincided with the holidays.

Inter’s squad naturally had the chance to spend time with their families on Christmas day.

But already, the team are back to training.

Davide Frattesi Absent From Inter Training Ahead Of Genoa Clash

One notable absentee from today’s training session was midfielder Frattesi.

The 24-year-old was not able to be part of training due to a fever.

Frattesi is not seriously ill. But he stayed home rather than coming to training as a precaution.

It remains to be seen if Frattesi will be able to be in the squad for Friday’s match.

Then there would be the matter of whether the Italian international and former Sassuolo midfielder will be at his best and ready to make an impact.

It may not have been likely that Frattesi would have started. The 24-year-old has not been a regular starter throughout his first season at Inter.

But the player’s absence from training today could also entail him lacking a bit of fitness to come off the bench at his best.
