Inter Milan President Green Lights Move For Canada FIFA World Cup Star – Transfer To Be Completed At Start Of January

Steven Zhang has given his approval for Inter Milan to make a move for Club Brugge’s Tajon Buchanan early in the January transfer window.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, report that the Nerazzurri are ready to make an offer worth €8 million net plus add-ons for the Canadian.

Inter are now moving at full speed in their pursuit of Buchanan.

It is no secret that the Nerazzurri want to sign a right-wingback next month. The absence of Juan Cuadrado for the next three months is leaving the team looking very thin on the ground on that flank.

Moreover, Inter are prepared to invest a substantial sum in a position where the long-term future of Denzel Dumfries is also in question.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri will go after their first-choice target for the role.

And that target is 24-year-old Canadian international Buchanan.

The Brugge wingback has been on Inter’s radar for a while. And there had already been a move for Buchanan lined up for next summer.

But with Cuadrado out, the Nerazzurri will go all-out to sign Buchanan next month.

Zhang Green Lights Inter Move For Tajon Buchanan

A key factor in signing Buchanan would of course be the approval of Inter President Zhang.

The Nerazzurri are currently offering Brugge a fee of €8 million plus add-ons for the Canadian. That is a couple million off of what the Belgians want, but nothing insurmountable.

And crucially, the Gazzetta reports, Zhang has given the go-ahead on an investment of that size.

With the President ready to release the funds, there is little stopping Inter from completing a deal for Buchanan, financially speaking.

It will likely be a permanent transfer rather than a loan, the Gazzetta reports.

And the player himself is keen on the transfer happening.

Buchanan has already been absent from a couple of matchday squads for Brugge. Given that he is not injured, it seems very clear that this is due to the 24-year-old’s future being away from the club.

As far as the timing of a move, the Gazzetta anticipate that Inter will sign Buchanan sooner rather than later.

The Canadian could arrive in the first few days of January.

Inter want Buchanan in their squad as early as their first match of 2024, against Hellas Verona on January 6.
