Napoli have yet to give up on reaching an agreement with Inter Milan transfer target Piotr Zielinski over a new contract.

The Polish international has been a key player for the Partenopei since he arrived in 2016. However, his contract will expire at the end of the season and the management has been unable to tempt him with its extension offers.

In the meantime, the Nerazzurri plunged into the scene, making swift progress on this front.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis even hinted that his player could make the switch to Northern Italy in a rather mocking tone.

Nevertheless, Sky Sport Italia (via FcInterNews) claims that Napoli are still working on Zielinski’s contract renewal.

The source states that the Italian champions are still pushing to convince the Pole of penning a renewal.

On the other hand, the Nerazzurri had reportedly reached an agreement in principle with the player’s entourage.

So at the moment, Inter can only observe from afar while hoping that Zielinski and his representatives remain true to their word.

Napoli Still Working To Convince Inter Milan Target Piotr Zielinski To Stay At The Club

The 29-year-old remains a regular starter for Napoli who have been struggling since the start of the season, whether under the guidance of Rudi Garcia or his successor Walter Mazzarri.

The former Udinese and Empoli man has made 22 appearances across all competitions this season, contributing with three goals and as many assists.

Zielinski can either play as a box-to-box midfielder or in a more advanced position behind the striker.
