Inter Milan are hoping to wrap up the signing of wingback Tajon Buchanan from Club Brugge by the time of their Serie A match against Hellas Verona on January 6.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter are now going full speed ahead in their pursuit of Buchanan.

The 24-year-old is the player who the Nerazzurri have decided on as their priority target on the left flank.

Buchanan has been on Inter’s radar in the past. They club have considered the versatile Canadian international has having an ideal profile to adapt to the right-wingback role in their 3-5-2 shape.

But injury issues in Inter’s squad have caused the club to push their pursuit of Buchanan forward.

The fact that Juan Cuadrado will be out for a few months whilst he undergoes surgery means that Inter have just Denzel Dumfries and Matteo Darmian fit as right-wingback options at the moment.

The former has had fitness issues of his own this season. Dumfries is currently out with a muscle injury.

And Darmian is also important depth in the centre-back position.

Therefore, Inter will make a signing in January for the right flank.

Inter Aiming To Sign Tajon Buchanan Before Hellas Verona Clash In January

Rather than going for a stopgap solution, the Nerazzurri will simply push forward their move for Buchanan.

Inter have already made an initial offer for Buchanan.

The Nerazzurri have tabled a bid of around €6 million. That is not enough to convince Brugge to sell the Canadian, but the negotiations are progressing.

Brugge have lowered their demands from €12 million to €10 million. They have not yet gone down to the €8 million that Inter are hoping for, the Corriere reports.

The negotiations are on standby a bit at the moment.

But that won’t be the case for long.

Inter want to sign Buchanan as early as the first few days of next month. They hope that he could even be in the squad for the first match of 2023, against Hellas Verona at the San Siro.
