Inter Milan are looking to put significant pressure on Juventus ahead of their Serie A clash with Roma by beating Genoa this evening.
Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, highlight the Nerazzurri’s opportunity at the Marassi.
Over the past few weeks, Juventus have generally played their league fixtures before Inter.
This quirk of the scheduling has led to a particular dynamic in the title race. By playing earlier than the Nerazzurri, the Bianconeri have had the chance to temporarily go ahead of Inter on several occasions.
Generally, Juventus have taken full advantage.
This has meant that Inter have had the pressure of regaining top spot with a win on quite a few occasions.
On the other hand, two weeks ago the Bianconeri slipped up, drawing against Genoa.
This meant that Inter had the chance to go four points clear at the top with a win over Lazio.
And that is exactly what the Nerazzurri did.
Inter Aiming To Put Pressure On Juventus Ahead Of Roma Clash
The last time the shoe was on the other foot was at the start of November.
Inter faced Atalanta one day before Juventus took on Fiorentina.
The Nerazzurri won their match away in Bergamo. This meant that there was plenty of pressure for the Bianconeri respond with a win of their own.
And that is what Max Allegri’s side did. They took three points from Florence with a sturdy 1-0 victory.
Now, the title race looks more and more like it will be between these two sides.
AC Milan and Napoli have fallen away.
Therefore, Inter will be relishing the possibility of not just being seven points clear of Juventus (temporarily) if they win this evening – every other rival would be further behind.
And then tomorrow, the Bianconeri have a tough match to navigate against Roma.
Inter will be hoping that if they can beat Genoa this evening, the match against the Giallorossi can be even tougher for Allegri’s team on a psychological level.
