Simone Inzaghi is keen for Inter Milan to keep their momentum going in their final Serie A match of 2023 against Genoa this evening.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlight the importance of avoiding any slip-ups in Liguria for the Nerazzurri.

With the calendar just a couple days away from turning to 2024, Inter have one final engagement in Serie A.

The Nerazzurri are in Genoa this evening, where they will take on the newly-promoted Rossoblu.

Genoa are not straightforward opposition by any stretch of the imagination.

The Ligurian side have shown that they are more than capable of staying in the top flight under coach Alberto Gilardino.

Genoa recently secured a hard-fought draw against Inter’s title rivals Juventus.

And having already done the Nerazzurri a favour, the Rossoblu will be keen to do the same for the Bianconeri.

But Inter will certainly see themselves as the favourites in this evening’s match. They are the outstanding team in Serie A in terms of their form this season.

Inzaghi Keen To Keep Inter Momentum Going Vs Genoa

This is not the first time that Inter have been in the position they’re in at this point in the season under Inzaghi.

In the 2021-22 campaign, the 47-year-old’s first in charge, the Nerazzurri were “winter champions.”

That came off the back of a blazing run of form in the fall. Inter went on a winning run that saw them build up a sizable advantage over rivals AC Milan and Napoli.

But a series of roadblocks halted that momentum.

And in the spring, Inter capitulated and lost out on the title to Milan on the final day of the campaign.

From that experience, Inzaghi will know just how important it is to keep the momentum going in every single match.

Just one slip-up could be enough to give the initiative to Juventus.

Therefore, the coach will be absolutely determined to set the right tone with a win this evening.
