Federico Dimarco is extremely happy with how he’s managed to establish himself at Inter Milan after a long and winding path.

The 26-year-old gave his thoughts after signing a contract extension with the Nerazzurri, via FCInterNews.

Now it’s official. Dimarco has committed his future to Inter with a new contract.

The Italian international’s new deal hardly comes as a surprise.

Dimarco and his representatives have been in talks with Inter for a number of weeks according to reports.

And for both parties, a new deal for the wingback makes sense.

From Inter’s perspective, Dimarco has become a key pillar of the starting eleven. Particularly since the departure of Ivan Perisic, the 26-year-old has made the left-wingback role his own.

And for the player himself, staying at Inter means wearing the shirt that he has supported since childhood.

Dimarco is an Inter youth academy graduate. But that does not mean that he has simply integrated into the team in a straightforward and linear manner.

Quite the opposite. The Italian has played for a total of five teams apart from Inter before becoming a first-team regular for his boyhood club.

Federico Dimarco Ecstatic With New Contract At Inter

Dimarco noted that “Inter was my dream when I was a child.”

“I touched it. Experienced it. But then I had to leave it.”

“But then here I am, I found my place right when no one believed I could,” the 26-year-old said.

“It’s tough work,” Dimarco noted. “But it’s also passion, support, effort, satisfaction, suffering, joy, and pure love.”

The Italian said that “It’s my life.”

He gave “Thanks to the club, the coach, the staff, my teammates, and everyone who works at Appiano and at the club headquarters.”

“Thank you to my family,” Dimarco continued. “And to everyone who works with me.”

“But above all thanks to you for all the love you give me,” the Inter wingback addressed the fans.

“They always say that travelling is one of the best things you can do,” Dimarco reflected.

“That’s true. But then there’s nothing like coming home – and staying there!”
