There is zero truth to rumours linking Mauro Icardi with a shock return to Inter Milan.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInter1908. The outlet report that the Nerazzurri are fully confident in Alexis Sanchez over the second half of the season, and will not bring Icardi back.

Among the main rumours regarding Inter’s January transfer plans is the idea that the club could sign a striker.

This would be because of the lack of fitness and form of Alexis Sanchez and Marko Arnautovic over the first part of the season.

If the Nerazzurri deem that their backup options in attack are not reliable enough for the bruising run-in of the season, it would be natural to turn to the transfer market for reinforcements.

There have been a number of rumours regarding possible targets for Inter in attack for January.

But in truth, none of these have been very serious.

One name that has been linked has been Lazio and Italy striker Ciro Immobile. The veteran striker has experience working with Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi at the Biancocelesti.

And another is Icardi.

The Galatasaray striker had been an Inter player for six years, between 2013 and 2019. He even wore the captain’s armband for a period.

No Truth To Rumours Linking Mauro Icardi To Inter

According to FCIN1908, however, these rumours are just that – nothing more than rumours.

The outlet report that there has been no serious interest from Inter in bringing back Icardi.

And in fact, FCIN1908 anticipate, the Nerazzurri are in no hurry to sign a striker this month.

Despite the underwhelming performances of Sanchez so far in the season, Inter have not lost faith.

The Nerazzurri are confident in the Chilean. They will keep him around as one of the four attacking options in their squad for the remainder of their season.
