Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan insists that his side is hellbent on winning the Scudetto title while feeling empathy with Davide Frattesi.

The 34-year-old remains a staple in Simone Inzaghi’s starting formation despite his relatively advanced playing age.

The Armenian has been playing his trade in Serie A since 2019 but has yet to lift the league title.

Nevertheless, the former Man Utd, Arsenal and Roma man reiterates his club’s desire to win the Scudetto.

Mkhitaryan also believes that Juventus’ modest approach is a strategy on the club’s part.

“Inter against Juventus? This will be a race to the title with 20 matches left. Our objective has been clear from the beginning. We want the second star,” stated the veteran in his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews.

“Allegri’s statements? It’s a strategy. They want to put pressure on us and AC Milan, but they’re also aiming for the title.

“Even though we’ve changed quite a lot, I feel the same positive climate in the locker room and the same winning mentality.

“Inter’s strength lies in the solid foundations. Compared to last season, we have made a leap in maturity.”

Henrikh Mkhitaryan Feels Sorry For Davide Frattesi Lack Of Playing Time At Inter Milan

On another note, Mkhitaryan feels sorry for Davide Frattesi who hasn’t been able to cement himself a starting berth since making the switch to Inter in the summer.

The 24-year-old has been playing second fiddle for the Armenian and Nicolo Barella in the box-to-box slots.

“Davide is very strong. I’m sorry that he’s playing less at the moment. But he knows well that only the common goal counts.

“He has time and talent on his side. He will be a pillar for Inter in the future.”

Yet, Mkhitaryan doesn’t intend to vacant his spot any time soon. He’s preparing to sign a new contract and aims to remain a pillar at Inter till the age of 37.

“I arrived at Inter at the age of 33, so perhaps they expected me to be a mere squad player.

“However, from day one, I made it clear that I didn’t want to waste time. Instead, I want to be a protagonist.

“This is home for me and I’m happy to be here. I’ll stay until I’m 37, I’ll do everything to maintain my shape.

“I’ve played for several big European clubs and I can say that Inter is up there with the elite.”

Inter Milan Midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan Opens Up On His Great Rapport With Simone Inzaghi

Finally, the experienced midfielder opens up on the disappointing defeat in the Champions League final last season, while also discussing his great rapport with his coach Simone Inzaghi

“I never watched the final again and I don’t intend to. It would only hurt me. Unfortunately, I got injured three weeks earlier.

“However, there it is the desire to try again. We want to play another final and win it.

“We wanted to avoid Atletico Madrid, but they also wanted to avoid us, for sure. It will be a beautiful and difficult challenge. I expect a tactical battle.

“My relationship with Inzaghi is excellent. He’s almost like a friend, even though I understand the difference in our roles.

“But I can say that he is a formidable manager and it shows in his playing style.”
