Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi believes that wingback Tajon Buchanan can be a “great signing” for the Nerazzurri.

The coach spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri secured a dramatic late win over Hellas Verona in Serie A, also reacting to the match.

Inter got the most dramatic of late wins this afternoon to take three points. The league leaders will finish the weekend at the top of the table no matter what result Juventus get tomorrow.

One player who did not play in this afternoon’s match was wingback Buchanan.

The Canadian international completed his move to the Nerazzurri from Club Brugge yesterday.

But there was simply not enough time to get Buchanan settled in and register him in the squad in time for this afternoon’s early kickoff.

However, the 24-year-old could already start making an impact in the coming matches.

Inter will play an exhausting cycle of fixtures in the next few weeks and months. Buchanan’s contribution will certainly become necessary.

Simone Inzaghi: Tajon Buchanan Great Signing For Inter

Inzaghi called Buchanan a “Great player.”

“The club did very well not to get caught unprepared,” he continued.

“Cuadrado had an injury and played through it,” Inzaghi said. “And now Buchanan arrives, he’s young but already has experience.”

The Inter coach said that “This morning I saw him training.”

“Physically he looks great, and he’s shown a great desire to learn,” Inzaghi said of the Canadian.

“We’ll try and get him up to speed and into the team. He’s a great signing.”

And Inzaghi also spoke about the return of defender Benjamin Pavard to the starting eleven.

“Pavard is an full international,” the coach said. “He fit into the team in the best way possible.”

“And then suffered a major injury.”

“He always wanted to be with the team,” the coach said of Pavard.

“Today he played an excellent match.”

Of Inter captain Lautaro Martinez’s performance, Inzaghi said that “He played a hundred minutes at a very high level.”

“If the match had gone differently, I would’ve taken him off,” the coach noted, suggesting that he would’ve liked to give Martinez a breather.

Importance Of Win Vs Verona Stressed

Inzaghi made clear of the win over Verona that “It’s important to win these types of matches.”

“I liked the way the team played in possession,” he continued. “Even if we had to be more precise.”

“We were up against a quality opponent who played an excellent match.”

“The last few minutes were breathless. After Henry’s equalizer we had a few chances. Then we scored the winner, and they got a penalty.”

“It was a nervy match, but these matches are also very important,” Inzaghi made clear.

And of the complaints of Verona’s Sporting Director at the refereeing, the Inter coach said that “I’ve lost matches like this too. Clearly there are going to be [feelings of anger.]”

Inzaghi also said that “I think the penalty against Darmian was fair. He knew that he’d made contact.”
