Lautaro Martinez has been named as Inter Milan’s outstanding player in yesterday’s Serie A win over Hellas Verona.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, give the Argentine a score of 7.5/10 in the player ratings for the match.

Early on in yesterday’s match, Martinez gave a clear demonstration of why he is Serie A’s top goalscorer so far this season.

The 26-year-old only needed one chance to get on the scoresheet for the sixteenth time in the league since the start of the campaign.

Martinez made his finish look easy. His touch and timing gave Verona keeper Lorenzo Montipo no chance.

But after that clinical finish, it was a different kind of performance from Martinez.

The Inter captain was not able to score another goal to make his team’s advantage more comfortable.

But Martinez did ably demonstrate why he’s worn the armband since the start of the season.

Lautaro Martinez Named MOTM For Inter Vs Verona

Inter needed leadership coming up against a Verona team who, despite their position in the table, showed immense determination to fight and scrap for any result they could get.

And that is what the Nerazzurri got from Martinez.

In his return to the team after a couple matches out with an injury, the Argentine was a strong presence in attack.

There was plenty of technical quality from the Nerazzurri captain. His eye-catching first touches were a big asset to the team in linkup play.

But just as importantly, Martinez’s determination and stamina helped the team stay composed.

Particularly towards the end, it was visible that Martinez was the man organizing the team.

This was vital in a match that went off the rails in terms of chaos and drama.

For the Gazzetta, no player was more important to Inter taking three points than Martinez was.
