Lautaro Martinez has once again given confirmation that his contract extension talks with Inter Milan are at the final stage.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInterNews, the Argentine, who is the Nerazzurri’s captain, stated that the talks are now “only a question of details.”

Martinez’s new contract at Inter now looks to be much more of a “when” rather than an “if.”

That has, in truth, been the case for some time.

Inter have made extending their captain’s contract a priority. Martinez’s current deal runs out at the end of June 2026, but the club want to make it 2028.

The 26-year-old is right at the centre of the Nerazzurri project.

He is the team’s top scorer in each of the past two seasons. And his goal this afternoon against Hellas Verona took him one step further towards repeating that feat this time around.

Martinez has just gotten back from a minor muscle injury.

And the Argentine’s return to the pitch confirms just how important he is to this Inter team.

Lautaro Martinez: Contract Extension At Inter A “Question Of Details”

Martinez said that “It’s been a fantastic year for me.”

“We missed the last piece in Istanbul.” he said, referring to narrowly losing the Champions League final to Manchester City in June.

The Argentine continued that “We’ve grown a lot. I’m happy to continue at Inter.”

“My contract extension is a question of details.”

As far as whether the official announcement will arrive this month, Martinez said “We’re talking. We’re headed in the right direction.”

The Inter captain also gave his thoughts on the Serie A title race with Juventus.

“We’re focusing on ourselves, without anxiety,” he said.

“It’s normal that in the last few matches, with the result of 1-0, we had some problems.”

“At a difficult away ground in Genoa, and then today Verona had a great match,” he said.

“Let’s think about ourselves,” Martinez said. “Let’s recover our energy for what’s to come.”
