Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez has joined Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe as one of Europe’s top goalscorers.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, note that the Argentine has managed a consistency in front of goal that only the Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain superstars have.

Martinez’s opening goal in Saturday’s Serie A win over Hellas Verona was the 26-year-old’s sixteenth of the season in the league.

That extends the Inter captain’s sizable advantage in the Serie A scoring charts.

And it further confirms that Martinez finishing the season as Inter’s top scorer for the third season running is all but a formality.

It is that consistency which is as important as the sheer goals total for Martinez.

The Argentine may be in the midst of his best scoring form to date. And there’s hardly a guarantee that he’ll keep it up over the second half of the campaign with sixteen more goals.

But Martinez has been prolific for a long time down.

Lautaro Martinez Joins Harry Kane & Kylian Mbappe Among Europe’s Top Goalscorers

Martinez has, in fact, scored fifteen or more league goals for four seasons running now.

Only two other players have so far managed that.

Bayern and former Tottneham Hotspur striker Kane has done so. As has PSG superstar Mbappe.

So far this season, that duo have been even more prolific than Martinez.

The England captain has scored 21 already in an explosive start for Bayern in the Bundesliga alone. And France’s talisman has found the back of the net eighteen times in Ligue 1.

Then there’s the surprise package that is Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy. The Guinean has netted seventeen times in the league.

But after that, Martinez’s sixteen goals see him the fourth most prolific striker in Europe’s major leagues.

That’s ahead of the likes of Erling Haaland, Mohamed Salah, and Jude Bellingham among others.
