Leicester City are keen on signing out-of-favour Inter Milan midfielder Stefano Sensi during the January transfer window.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who reported on his homepage that the Foxes have made contact with the player but not yet presented an offer to Inter.

Sensi has barely featured for Inter this season.

The Italian international and former Sassuolo midfielder has not started in any competitions. He has made only a handful of substitute appearances.

Sensi had been expected to leave Inter during the summer transfer window.

The Italian, who had spent the second half of the 2021-22 season on loan with Sampdoria, had spent last campaign at Monza.

The Brianzoli had the option of signing Sensi on a permanent basis last summer. But they declined to take advantage of it.

And despite links away, Sensi stayed at Inter.

This partly had to do with the club’s failure to sign Lazar Samardzic from Udinese, which combined with the departure of Roberto Gagliardini left the midfield options looking thin.

Leicester City Keen On Inter Midfielder Stefano Sensi

But with the opening of the January transfer window, Sensi’s future has looked to be away from Inter.

The 28-year-old’s contract with the Nerazzurri runs out at the end of June. But he has no place in the club’s plans, and they would allow him to leave this month should offers arrive.

According to Di Marzio, Sensi could make a move to England.

The Foxes are currently in England’s second division, the Championship. They were relegated from the Premier League last season.

But Leicester are currently top of the Championship table.

With ten points separating the East Midlands club from their closest rivals, they look to be the runaway leaders.

This has come under the stewardship of coach Enzo Maresca, who took charge of Leicester last summer.

And Maresca wants to bolster his squad this month.

According to Di Marzio, the Italian coach is a big fan of Sensi. He has identified the Inter midfielder as a target for his club.

Leicester have approached Sensi and his representatives to try and convince him on the move.

However, the Foxes have not made a formal offer to Inter yet.
