Inter Milan benchwarmer Stefano Sensi has reportedly expressed his openness to a January transfer to Leicester City.

The 28-year-old is at the bottom of the totem pole in Simone Inzaghi’s midfield department. Hakan Calhanoglu, Nicolo Barella, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Davide Frattesi, Kristjan Asllani, and Davy Klaassen are all ahead of him in the hierarchy.

Therefore, the Italian international has become surplus to requirements at Appiano Gentile.

With only six months left on his contract, the Nerazzurri are willing to sell the midfielder at a cut price. It would also help the club in reducing the wage bill.

The Serie A leaders are looking to pocket 2 million euros as a transfer fee.

In recent days, Leicester has emerged as the main suitor in the race for Sensi’s services.

The Foxes are currently leading the Championship table as they look to secure their return to the Premier League at the first time of asking following their devastating relegation last term.

According to FcInter1908, Sensi is now open to moving abroad and joining the 2015/16 EPL winners.

The source believes that talks will continue in the next few days to finalize the operation.

Inter Milan Midfielder Stefano Sensi Willing To Join Leicester City In January

The Nerazzurri are hoping to close the deal before they travel to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday to participate in the Italian Super Cup tournament.

Sensi signed for Inter in the summer of 2019 but recurring injury problems have hindered his playing career. He spent 18 months on loan between Sampdoria and Monza before returning to Appiano Gentile in the summer.

This season, the Italian made three short cameos in Serie A in addition to an appearance in the Coppa Italia.

The midfielder never participated in the Champions League as he was excluded from the group stage list.
