Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi will have the chance to break the record of Fabio Capello in the Italian Super Cup.
Since 1988, this competition pitted the Scudetto winner against the Coppa Italia holder in a one-off match.
But in 2023, and for the first time ever, the Supercoppa Italiana will feature four clubs in a mini-tournament after including the runners-up from the domestic league and cup. The competition kicks off in Saudi Arabia next week.
The Nerazzurri will play against Lazio in the semi-final. If they beat the capital side, they will advance to the final to take on the winner between Napoli and Fiorentina.

Therefore, he’ll have the opportunity to win his third Italian Super Cup in a row. If he succeeds, he would equal Capello’s record. The legendary manager guided Milan towards three successive triumphs between 1992 and 1994.

Besides any late twists, the Nerazzurri coach should have a full squad at his disposal except for the injured Juan Cuadrado. Nevertheless, Tajon Buchanan has now arrived to make up for the Colombian’s absence.
From a financial perspective, prize money had never been higher in the Italian Super Cup. The tournament’s winner could collect circa 8 million euros.
