Inter Milan new signing Tajon Buchanan arrived to bolster the wingback department but can also pull off another playing role.

The 24-year-old completed his transfer from Club Brugge to the Nerazzurri last week. He arrives as a replacement for Juan Cuadrado who had to undergo surgery which will keep him out of action for several months.

The Canada international will compete with Denzel Dumfries for a spot on the right flank in Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 formation.

Buchanan is originally a winger but has been fielded in various positions across the right lane. He even played at right-back.

But according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, there is another role that the versatile newcomer can interpret in Simone Inzaghi’s tactical setup.

The pink newspaper believes the Canadian has the characteristics to play as a second striker.

Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez have cemented themselves as the ultimate first choices upfront.

However, their backups Alexis Sanchez and Marko Arnautovic have hardly inspired this season.

Hence, Buchanan could present himself as an additional option in the attacking department, especially when Martinez is unavailable or needs to rest.

Inter Milan New Signing Tajon Buchanan Could Become An Option In Attack

The former New England Revolution player returned to Belgium briefly earlier this week to finalize some paperwork.

But as the source tells it, he’s now back at Appiano Gentile and is gunning for his first call-up with Inter.

This weekend, the Nerazzurri will take the nearby trip to Monza to battle their Lombardian neighbors at the U-Power Stadium on Saturday night.

Buchanan is unlikely to start, but he’ll be hoping to make his Serie A debut as a second-half substitute.
