Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi is desperate for more minutes, and should get his moment in the sun in the Italian Super Cup.

The 24-year-old joined the Nerazzurri in the summer, completing a transfer from Sassuolo.

Inter beat the likes of Juventus, As Roma and AC Milan in the race for the Italy international. Yet, he hasn’t been able to lock himself a starting spot in Simone Inzaghi’s lineup.

Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu and Henrikh Mkhitaryan remain the coach’s preferred midfield three, with Frattesi acting as a first backup.

This could be the situation yet again this weekend, with the aftermentioned trio starting against Monza at the U-Power Stadium, although the former Sassuolo man was hoping to get the nod after poaching the winner against Hellas Verona last weekend.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInter1908, Frattesi is becoming impatient with his lack of playing time.

Nevertheless, the pink newspaper expects him to be a protagonist in the Italian Super Cup.

As the report explains, Inzaghi will be looking to rotate his lineup to keep his troops fresh while playing in a strikingly different climate in Saudi Arabia.

The source tips the Azzurri midfielder to start against Lazio in the semi-final next Friday.

Inter Milan Midfielder Davide Frattesi Could Get The Nod Vs Lazio In Super Cup

If Inter go through to the final, they will meet the winner between Napoli and Fiorentina on January 23rd.

This season, Frattesi has made 17 Serie A appearances, but only one as a starter. He scored two goals in the process, including one in the Derby della Madonnina

The Italian has been more involved in the Champions League, starting on four occasions. He contributed with a goal and three assists in Europe’s most prestigious club competition.
