Inter Milan are reportedly getting even closer to finalizing an agreement with Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (via FcInterNews) explains, the Poland international has yet to renew his expiring contract with the Partenopei.

Yet, he revealed his desire to remain in Serie A.

Italy has become a second home for the midfielder who has been plying his trade in the country since joining Udinese back in 2011.

The 29-year-old has offers from the Saudi Pro League. Nevertheless, he had already rejected the Arabian calls last summer, and he plans to do likewise this year.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri believe they’re in prime position to sign Zielinski on a free transfer.

Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta believes he has the edge over Juventus, even though the Bianconeri’s Football director Cristiano Giuntoli was the one who brought Zielinski to Napoli back in 2016.

The Serie A leaders have offered the Pole a three-year contract. He would earn 4.5 million euros as net wages in addition to bonuses.

The management is now expecting a final reply from the player sooner rather than later.

Inter Milan Working On Finalizing An Agreement With Napoli Star Piotr Zielinski

The pink newspaper believes Zielinski would effectively replace Davy Klaassen in Simone Inzaghi’s squad.

The Dutchman sealed a deadline-day transfer from Ajax to Inter last summer. However, he hasn’t been gaining a considerable amount of playing time.

The 30-year-old could end up leaving the club once his contract expires at the end of the season, making room for the Napoli star.

Zielinski made 24 appearances across all competitions this season. He contributed with three goals and as many assists.
