Simone Inzaghi isn’t ready to say whether this current version of Inter Milan is the best under him as coach.

The Nerazzurri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, after his team secured an emphatic 5-1 win over Monza in Serie A.

Inter sent another clear message to the rest of Serie A with their performance against Monza this evening.

The Nerazzurri scored five goals to take their total for the season in the league to an eye-watering 53.

There have been one or two stumbles. But by and large, Inter look like they have taken all the momentum from reaching the Champions League final last season and built on it.

There’s still a long way to go though.

And so Inter coach Inzaghi is not ready to make any bold claims just yet.

Simone Inzaghi: Too Early To Say Whether This Is The Best Inter Under Me

Asked whether he thinks that this is the strongest version of Inter under his coaching, Inzaghi replied “No. There are still more than twenty matches left to go.”

“Last season we won two trophies and reached a Champions League final,” he noted.

“We brought great joy to the fans and the club.”

“This season we’re halfway there,” Inzaghi continued.

“We qualified for the Champions League knockouts from a tough group, and we’re going at a great pace in the league.”

Inzaghi said that “We’re right there alongside another team who are ready to take advantage of any slip-ups that we make.”

Of the victory over Monza, the Inter coach said that “Tonight we played an excellent match.”

“Despite the draw in Genoa, we hadn’t played too badly despite conceding an avoidable goal,” he continued.

“And then against Verona we did less well,” Inzaghi admitted.

“We managed to analyze where we had to do better,” he said. “And it will be the same tomorrow morning.”

“Tonight was an excellent performance against a team who are tough to come up against.”

And as far as whether he has asked the club to make any signings, Inzaghi replied “No. The directors have already spoken about that.”

“There’s been a lot of talk about the forwards,” the Nerazzurri coach noted. “But I’m very happy with Arnautovic and Sanchez.”

“They’re doing great in training. And then they are competing for places with Lautaro and Thuram who did brilliantly in the first half of the season.”

Inzaghi said that “Arnautovic has made an important contribution.”

“Sanchez scored a goal in the Champions League and showed his quality against Verona,” he added. “I’m sure they will carve out an important place for themselves.”
