Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu will miss the team’s Serie A match against Fiorentina through suspension, but is available to face Lazio in the Supercoppa Italiana.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Yesterday evening against Monza, Calhanoglu picked up his fifth yellow card of the Serie A season.

The Turkish international received a booking for a late challenge on Inter-owned midfielder Valentin Carboni as the latter attempted to start a Monza counterattack.

That yellow card means that Calhanoglu will be suspended for Inter’s next Serie A match.

But that match will not come for a couple of weeks.

Hakan Calhanoglu Suspended For Fiorentina Clash – Available Vs Lazio

Inter will hit pause on their Serie A campaign for a couple weeks. The team travel to Saudi Arabia for the Supercoppa Italiana.

On Friday, Inter take on Lazio in the semifinal of the competition.

Then if the Nerazzurri win that semifinal, they will take on either Napoli or Fiorentina in the final of the competition.

Only then will Inter be back in action in Serie A.

The Nerazzurri travel to Tuscany to face Fiorentina in the league at the end of the month.

Calhanoglu will not serve his suspension in the Supercoppa. Therefore, the 29-year-old will be able to be part of the squad that faces Lazio later this week.

But then the former AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder will have to serve out his suspension against Fiorentina on the 28th of January.

After that, Calhanoglu will be available once again for the Derby d’Italia match against Juventus at the start of February.

That will certainly be a match where Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will want all his key players available.

Then, things won’t get much easier for the Nerazzurri, as their next match will be away to Roma.
