Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that the Nerazzurri have to keep pushing themselves in the title race with Juventus.
The Nerazzurri coach spoke in a press conference after today’s Serie A win over Juventus, as reported by FCInterNews.
Inter got another win in Serie A to keep the momentum going at the top of the table.
The Nerazzurri went five points clear of Juventus temporarily.
This puts the pressure on the Bianconeri to beat Sassuolo later this week. And it takes some of it off of Inter.
But not much.
The margins at the top of the Serie A table have not gotten any less tight over the past few weeks.
On the contrary, things have only felt more and more competitive with each passing match.
And Inter coach Inzaghi will know full well how costly any one slip-up could be.
Inter Coach Simone Inzaghi: We Have To Keep Pushing Ourselves
“We have to keep pushing ourselves,” Inzaghi said.
“Myself, the players, the staff. We have to work hard match after match.”
The Inter coach continued that “We have to keep going like this.”
“In other leagues, if you had 51 points after twenty matches you would probably have a bit more of a margin for error. But not in this one.”
Inzaghi emphasized that “There are still eighteen matches left to go. And there are still a lot of points up for grabs.”
Of the win over Monza, Inzaghi said that “We gave a great response, which was the result of all the work during the week.”
“It was a great match against a team who have caused us plenty of problems in the past.”
And as far as why his team were able to play more fluidly in wide areas against Monza than they had done against Verona, Inzaghi speculated that “One reason could be the pitch.”
“Here in Monza it was extraordinary,” the coach said.
He added that “It’s truly a pleasure to play football on a pitch like this.”
Inzaghi said that “Inter have to play well technically. And to do that you also need this kind of pitch.”
