Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been labelled as the “brain” of Inter Milan’s 5-1 Serie A win away to Monza yesterday.

As L’Interista highlight, Italian media have lauded the Armenian’s influence in the match in the player ratings.

Mkhitaryan took up his usual position on the left of midfielder against Monza.

The veteran former Arsenal, Manchester United, and Roma midfielder formed the usual trio alongside Nicolo Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu.

And Mkhitaryan had a lot of freedom to move around the pitch.

The 34-year-old looked to pick up positions in pockets of space where he could quickly move the team forward with passing combinations.

And that’s exactly what Mkhitaryan did.

Mkhitaryan Labelled The “Brain” Of Inter In Serie A Win Vs Monza

Mkhitaryan was involved in almost all of Inter’s most dangerous attacks in one way or the others.

The Nerazzurri played with their usual front-to-back style, and the Armenian proved to be the perfect man to link the play up in that respect.

Mkhitaryan did not get into advanced positions very often. The 34-year-old was not much of a goal threat as he is capable of being when he plays in those areas of the pitch.

But from a bit deeper, Mkhitaryan was an incisive presence.

The Armenian may not have gotten a goal or an assist. But his fingerprints were all over a performance that saw Inter find the back of the net on five occasions.

Even with his 35th birthday just a few days away, Mkhitaryan also showed great energy.

The Armenian covered plenty of ground, and kept the team defensively compact.

But above all it was Mkhitaryan’s creative influence that has seen him win plaudits.

The veteran midfielder continues to show why it is so hard to drop him from the team. Even with the competition of former Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi just behind him.
