Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan feels that the team that faced Monza was the same one that reached the Champions League final against Man City.

The 34-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster RAI Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter sent another clear message to the rest of Serie A with their performance against Monza  over the weekend.

The Nerazzurri scored five goals to take their total for the season in the league to an eye-watering 53.

There have been one or two stumbles. But by and large, Inter look like they have taken all the momentum from reaching the Champions League final last season and built on it.

Last season did ultimately end in heartbreak in the Champions League final.

But the fact that Inter had even reached that far – and gone toe-to-toe with Manchester City in Istanbul – was an indication of just what kind of attitude and quality the team has.

And the Nerazzurri have only built on that over the first half of this season.

Saturday evening’s win over Monza was one more example of that.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan: Same Inter Vs Monza As Reached UCL Final Vs Man City

Asked if he thought that the team that beat Monza was the same one that got to the Champions League final, Mkhitaryan replied “Yes.”

“Now we have to keep going on this path,” he continued. “Because we want to win all the matches to come.”

The former Arsenal and Roma midfielder continued that “Playing in this team is a pleasure.”

“I enjoy myself on the pitch with my teammates,” he said.

Mkhitaryan said that “I’m enjoying every match, every training session, and every minute of it.”

“And then we’ll see what happens.”

Last season, Mkhitaryan was vital to Inter’s performances in the Champions League knockouts.

However, the Armenian could only come on as a substitute during the final as he was coming back from an injury.
