Former Nerazzurri coach Marco Tardelli expects that the upcoming match between Inter Milan and Juventus will be decisive in the Serie A title race.

The former Italian international midfielder, who played for both clubs, spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews.

At the moment, five points separate Inter and Juventus at the top of the Serie A table. But the Biancocelesti could reduce the gap to two once more if they beat Sassuolo this evening.

The two Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri are on a collision course for the start of next month.

Given that Inter will miss one Serie A match for the Supercoppa Italiana, Juventus could take advantage and actually go into the head-to-head meeting ahead in the table, albeit with the Nerazzurri having a game in hand.

One thing that is for sure, is that next month’s meeting will be a big opportunity for both Inter and Juventus to take a decisive step forward towards the Serie A title.

Tardelli: Inter Juventus Clash “Decisive” For Serie A Title

As far as the title race goes, Tardelli anticipated that “Now they’re both favourites.”

Asked if he’d bet a pizza on the Bianconeri winning the title, he joked “Let’s say I’d bet a Margherita pizza on Juventus.”

As far as why this is the case, Tadelli replied “Juventus seem to be in a bit better condition physically to me.”

“And Inter, unlike Juventus, will have to play in the Supercoppa in Saudi Arabia now. And then there’s Atletico in the Champions League.”

Tardelli suggested that “Inzaghi’s team could run into some difficulties psychologically and physically. Even if they’re the more special team.”

The former midfielder suggested that “Allegri’s experience in the Scudetto run-in will certainly be an advantage to Juventus.”

And he also argued that “At the moment Lautaro is the best striker in Serie A. And probably the best player overall in the league.”
