Max Allegri feels that the Serie A title race between Juventus and Inter Milan is “like cops and robbers – someone’s always chasing.”

The Bianconeri boss spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, following his team’s 3-0 Serie A win over Sassuolo yesterday.

Juventus cut Inter’s lead at the top of the Serie A table to just two points with their win yesterday.

The last couple weeks have only further solidified the feeling that this season’s Serie A title race will come down to the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri.

The only team even within striking distance at the moment are AC Milan.

But at the top, there is very little to split the two front-runners. At least in terms of points.

Inter have the strongest record in the league in both attack and defense. And they are top, by however narrow a margin.

But Juventus are the team “hunting” the Nerazzurri.

There have been suggestions that Allegri and his players could really relish the role of “hunters” or “pursuers” of the team at the top.

For the Bianconeri coach, this is just the way football is. There are always dynamics of a team leading, and then those behind them chasing.

Allegri: Juventus Vs Inter Serie A Title Race “Like Cops & Robbers”

“Are we the hunters?” Allegri posed.

“Any time there’s someone in the lead, then there’s always someone chasing,” the Juventus coach said. “It’s like a game of cops and robbers.”

“We have to remain calm and play well,” Allegri continued.

“Lecce away is never easy. We have to prepare to try and take three points.”

“And in the meantime, today we increased the gap from fifth place to sixteen points,” the Bianconeri coach added. “That’s very important.”

For weeks now, Allegri has put the focus on finishing in the top four.

The Juventus coach has emphasized securing Champions League football for next season and downplayed the title talk.

And as far as the head-to-head clash with Inter next month, Allegri said that “We’re thinking one match at a time.”

“Lecce away is always difficult,” he said of the Bianconeri’s next match.

“Sometimes there are matches that are very hard-fought and not exactly beautiful. We just have to take it one small step at a time.”
