Porto & Iran striker Mehdi Taremi is staying tight-lipped about recent transfer rumours linking him to Inter Milan.

The 31-year-old didn’t want to go into the rumours in a press conference at the Asian Cup, as reported by FCInterNews.

The past few days have seen the links between Inter and Taremi intensify in the media.

It is no secret that the Iranian international is a Nerazzurri target.

Taremi had been on Inter’s radar last summer. And the fact that he will be out of contract with Porto at the end of June makes him a free transfer opportunity.

But recent reports suggest that Inter are not just pursuing Taremi.

The Nerazzurri have reportedly all but sealed an agreement for the 31-year-old.

Taremi has made his decision, reports suggest. He will join Inter on a free transfer at the end of the current season.

Nothing is official yet. But many reports have suggested that the Nerazzurri want to get Taremi to put pen to paper in the near future – possibly not long after he finishes up at the Asian Cup.

Mehdi Taremi Tight-Lipped On Inter Links

For his part, however, Taremi is not keen to confirm anything about his future at club level.

A reporter asked the Porto striker about the recent reports that Inter are closing in on a deal to sign him next summer.

Taremi replied that “Now’s not the time to talk about that.”

“Right now we’re in Qatar for the national team,” he said.

“And the national team is more important than anything else.”

Iran secured a 4-1 win over Palestine in their opening group stage match of the tournament.

And tomorrow, Taremi and his teammates will take on Hong Kong in another group stage encounter.

Taremi has made 77 appearances for Iran. He has scored 42 goals in the process.
