Defender Alessandro Bastoni will not be fit for tomorrow’s Supercoppa Italiana final between Inter Milan and Napoli.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.

Inter have had very little in the way of rest time between the semfinal and final of the Supercoppa.

The Nerazzurri only played against Lazio on Friday.

And already the team will be in action tomorrow evening.

That’s just a couple days to rest and train between the two matches. And considering the high tempo that the match against Lazio was played at, it certainly took a toll on the players.

Therefore, in the last couple training sessions, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has been closely observing the fitness of his players.

Alessandro Bastoni Won’t Be Fit For Inter Vs Napoli Supercoppa Final

According to Sky, one player who will not be fit for the final is Bastoni.

The Italian international had started in the semifinal against the Biancoelesti.

Bastoni did come off as a substitute during the second half of that match, however.

It was Stefan de Vrij who replaced the 24-year-old former Parma and Atalanta man.

Therefore, Francesco Acerbi shifted out to Bastoni’s usual position on the left of the defense. Then Dutch international de Vrij played in the centre of the back three.

And according to Sky, there were still significant signs of muscular fatigue in Bastoni’s thigh.

Therefore, this will be enough to keep the Italian international from playing tomorrow.

Bastoni will not even be fit enough to be on the bench against Napoli.

Therefore, the starting back three will be the trio that ended the semifinal against Lazio.

Benjamin Pavard will play on the right alongside de Vrij and Acerbi.

Bastoni will then look to rest and recover in view of next weekend’s Serie A match away to Fiorentina.
