Christian Vieri feels that for all Inter Milan’s brilliance against Lazio, they are not favourites in the Supercoppa Italiana final against Napoli.

The former Nerazzurri and Atletico Madrid striker spoke to Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews.

Inter certainly made a statement of intent with their Supercoppa semifinal win against Lazio.

It was not just the result. Nor was it even just the scoreline.

Inter’s performance to secure that emphatic 3-0 win seemed like a clear sign that the Nerazzurri aimed to dominate all comers at the Supercoppa.

Napoli had also won by the same 3-0 scoreline against Fiorentina in the other semifinal.

But there was just the sense that the performances were on different levels.

Therefore, there could very well be the sense that the Nerazzurri are the team with all the expectation of winning this evening. They would secure the Supercoppa for the third year in a row.

But Inter will have to go through the reigning Italian champions in order to do so.

And Vieri does not feel that they can be considered as favourites.

Christian Vieri: Inter Not Favourites Vs Napoli Despite “Brilliance”

“In finals, there are no favourites,” Vieri said ahead of this evening’s match.

“On the one hand, this Inter team is brilliant,” he continued. “They showed that against Lazio.”

“But Napoli won the scudetto and we enjoyed seeing their football greatly.”

“Of course, Spalletti is gone,”Vieri noted. “That’s another unknown.”

“But I say it’s 50% chance for both of them.”

And as far as who he expects to be the key players in attack for both sides, Vieri said that “Thuram and Lautaro are extraordinary.”

“Inter are an entertaining team to watch, and Simone is doing a great job.”

“Then Kvara is a fantastic player, and it’s a shame that Osimhen isn’t there.”

“He’s among the best strikers in the world,” the former striker said of Osimhen.
