Inter Milan defender Benjamin Pavard feels that winning the Supercoppa Italiana can help the Nerazzurri to keep growing.
The Frenchman spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews. He emphasized that the team must keep going and not think that they’ve arrived anywhere yet.
Inter got their hands on the Supercoppa Italiana for the third year in a row yesterday.
Having beaten Juventus and AC Milan in the prior two seasons, this time around the Nerazzurri beat Napoli. That followed a semifinal clash that had seen Inter dispatch Lazio.
This certainly comes as a boost to Inter’s confidence and morale.
But the job is only just beginning in the context of the season for Inter.
The Nerazzurri have tough matches in Serie A, first away to Fiorentina, and then the big one – at home to direct title rivals Juventus.
Meanwhile, in the Champions League Inter have a round of sixteen tie against Atletico Madrid on the way.
Benjamin Pavard: Supercoppa Italiana Triumph Can Help Inter To Grow
“Winning this trophy will certainly help Inter to grow,” Pavard said.
“We can’t think about what the other teams are doing,” the Frenchman added.
Inter are now playing catch-up after Juventus went ahead of them in the Serie A table with a win over Lecce.
However, the Nerazzurri have a crucial game in hand with which they can restore their advantage. Moreover, there is the direct clash with the Bianconeri coming up in less than two weeks.
“We’re strong,” Pavard said. “But we can’t feel like we’ve already arrived.”
The 27-year-old former Bayern Munich defender stressed that “There’s still a lot of work to do. And we’ll do it the best we can.”
Pavard started in yesterday’s final against Napoli.
The Frenchman is once again cementing his place in the team after an injury had sidelined him for more than a month.
