Porto striker Mehdi Taremi is reportedly on the verge of signing a pre-contract with Inter Milan, paving the way for a summer transfer.

The 31-year-old has no intention of renewing his stay at the Portuguese club where he’s been plying his trade since 2020.

The Iranian will thus join a new club on a free transfer ahead of next season, and has apparently chosen his destination.

According to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, the Nerazzurri have accelerated their attempts to close the operation over the past few weeks.

On Wednesday, a significant meeting took place at the club’s headquarters. It featured Italian football agent Federico Pastorello.

As the source tells it, the parties have found a breakthrough in the negotiations.

The Turin-based newspaper believes an agreement has been reached between the club and the player’s entourage.

Taremi should ink a two-year deal that would see him earn 3 million euros per season as net wages.

Mehdi Taremi To Sign Inter Milan Pre-Contract After The Asian Cup

The striker is currently spearheading Iran’s charge in the Asian Cup. He scored a brace in the last Group Stage fixture against UAE to book a Round of 16 encounter against Syria.

The report expects the Porto man to sign a pre-contract with Inter once he returns from Qatar.

As per the rules, a player has the right to sign a pre-contract with a new club once he enters the last six remaining months of his running contract.

The Nerazzurri had already tried to acquire the attacker last summer but to no avail. The Serie A giants weren’t willing to meet Porto’s valuation.

Nevertheless, the club’s directors remained on the player’s trail and are apparently edging ever closer to reaching the finish line.
