Midfielder Kristjan Asllani will have the chance to prove himself at Inter Milan in tomorrow’s Serie A match against Fiorentina.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will not have much choice but to start Asllani tomorrow.

The Albanian international is the one natural profile in terms of a backup option to Hakan Calhanoglu in the Nerazzurri’s squad.

Therefore, with Calhanoglu absent through suspension, it is Asllani who will step in.

Inzaghi could always chenge up the system. But by all accounts, the coach has no doubts that he will put his faith in Asllani.

And given that tomorrow’s match will be all but “must-win” for Inter in the context of the Serie A title race, the pressure will be on the 21-year-old.

Kristjan Asllani With A Chance To Prove Himself For Inter Vs Fiorentina

Asllani joined Inter from Empoli during the summer of 2022.

The Albanian has made a total of 48 appearances for the Nerazzurri to date.

However, the majority of these have come off the bench. Moreover, Inzaghi has not tended to trust the 21-year-old in the most important matches.

It has always been Calhanoglu or, last season, Marcelo Brozovic to get the nod.

There were even suggestions that Inzaghi could leave Inter during the summer transfer window prior to the current season.

Reportedly tomorrow’s opposition Fiorentina showed an interest in the ex-Empoli midfielder.

But Asllani decided to stay at Inter.

And the Nerazzurri, who had sold Brozovic during the summer, were ready to entrust Asllani with the role of Calhanoglu’s main backup.

And there have been some positive moments for Asllani this season.

The 21-year-old was the architect of Inter’s winning goal against Roma with a brilliant long diagonal ball to play in Federico Dimarco.

What is now needed from Asllani is more consistency.

The Albanian has yet to show that he can truly control matches on both sides of the ball as Calhanoglu or Brozovic can. Particularly on the big stage.

But tomorrow’s match will be a great chance for Asllani to show what he’s capable of.
